Letchworth Garden City and Welwyn Garden City combined to become the fictional town of Newton Haven for The World's End, the third movie in Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's so-called Cornetto Trilogy.
The last eight pubs from the "Golden Mile" pub crawl are located in Letchworth, although they all have made-up names that tie into the events of the movie, and a few of them, just in case you have the idea to attempt the pub crawl yourself, aren't actual pubs.
The United Kingdom's first roundabout in the movie though is real. It's Letchworth's Sollershott roundabout that dates back to 1909. Some vegetation had to be removed for the stunt at the end of the movie, but producers worked with the city to replant all the flowers and shrubs.
