star wars cantina exterior
from star wars, a new hope posted in movies by chewing_the_scenery
Ajim, a ferry port on the island of Djerba, Tunisia, was transformed into the streets of Mos Eisely for the filming of A New Hope. The exterior of the cantina where Obi Wan and Luke first meet Han Solo is currently an unused building in need of repair. Interiors were shot at Elstree Studios.
Some nerdy trivia: the full name of the cantina is Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina named after its owner, a wookie named Chalmun.
bantha canyon

Bantha Canyon (real name Desolation Canyon in Death Valley National Park) is where the Tusken Raiders mount their Banthas on Tatooine in A New Hope. The scenes immediately after this where Luke gets attacked by the Sand People were filmed in Tunisia at Star Wars Canyon.
The original Bantha was an elephant draped in fur with fake horns and is one of the few creatures that Lucas didn't replace with CGI at some point in the last twenty years.

The cliff Obi Wan and Luke are standing on when Obi Wan first shows Luke Mos Eisley in A New Hope is located in Tunisia at the entrance to Star Wars Canyon. What they see though was filmed at Dante's View in Death Valley National Park. A matte painting of Mos Eisley in the distance was added over the view of Death Valley.
star wars canyon
from star wars, a new hope, raiders of the lost ark posted in movies by chewing_the_scenery
Several scenes near the beginning of A New Hope were filmed in and around this gorge near Tozeur in south west Tunisia earning it the nickname Star Wars Canyon. This is where R2D2 was captured by the Jawas, where Luke was attacked by the Tusken Raiders and where Obi Wan first appeared to scare the sand people off. At the mouth of the canyon is the Sandcrawler Parking Lot where the Jawas were parked when they were attacked by the Stormtroopers.
This is also where Indiana Jones stopped Belloq with the rocket launcher near the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Not far from here to the east is the location of the Tanis dig site from that movie.
