Phil Hartman, star of Saturday Night LIve and NewsRadio, lived at this home with his wife and two children in Encino, CA.
On the evening of May 27, 1998, Brynn Hartman (Phil's wife) had been at the Buca Di Beppo down the street. Upon returning to the home, the couple were involved in a heated argument.
Phil Hartman threatened to leave his wife if she continued to use drugs and alcohol, then went to sleep. Brynn Hartman shot Phil three times at 3 a.m. with a .38 pistol.

On October 12, 1997, singer/songwriter John Denver was killed when his experimental Rutan Long-EZ plane plunged into the Pacific Ocean near Pacific Grove. A pilot with over 2,700 hours of experience, Denver was 53 years old when he died.
On September 23, 2007, a memorial was dedicated near the location of the plane crash.
