When Rick Grimes rides his horse into Atlanta in Episode 1, Season 1 of The Walking Dead, the dramatic photography is a digitally enhanced view from the Freedom Parkway. The road is obviously digitally enhanced with the cars on the left, but train tracks were also added on the right, and the distance to the city is exaggerated. However, the skyline is of downtown Atlanta from the east (facing west).

When Rick Grimes comes out of a coma to find himself in a zombie paradise, the hospital he exits in Episode 1, Season 1 of The Walking Dead is the administrative offices of the Atlanta Mission, an organization that "provides emergency shelter, residential discipleship, job attainment, and transitional housing to more than 950 homeless men, women and children daily."

Apparently, the building was under construction at the time of the building, but much of the exterior destruction and bodies were added digitally.
