Vancouver Technical Secondary School (a.k.a. Van Tech) in East Vancouver was the stand-in for Rosie Larsen's Seattle high school in the rainy crime drama The Killing. Other tv shows and movies filmed here include Smallville, Scary Movie, and the worst Philip K. Dick adaptation ever Paycheck.

The Mellark Bakery where Peeta works in Katniss's flashback in The Hunger Games is the old company store from the abandoned Henry River Mill Village near Hildebran, North Carolina. The village was the company town for the Henry River Manufacturing Company from 1904 until 1977 when the cotton mill burned down. The boarding house and the 35 worker houses in the rest of the village were used as Katniss's district 12 slum from the beginning of the movie.

In April of 2012, the 83 year old property owner put the land up for sale for 1.4 million.

In The Killing, millionaire basketball enthusiast Tom Drexler has an apartment with a glass-bottom swimming pool as a ceiling. This (not his basketball room which was shot elsewhere) was filmed at one of the four "boutique luxury short term rental suites" at the Keefer, a renovated building in Vancouver's Chinatown where rich folk actually get to stay in such rooms.

Linden refers to this as "the downtown market," but it's the Richmond Public Market south of Vancouver where The Killing was filmed and not in Seattle where the show takes place. This is where Linden and Holder chase Muhammed in season 1 episode 9.

Although it's set in Seattle, most of The Killing was filmed in Vancouver. The Vancouver Plaza Skatepark makes a few appearances when Linden and Holder are tracking down Kris Echols. It's located under the Georgia Viaduct at the intersection of Union and Quebec Streets and Expo Boulevard.
