Open for forty years, Cat's Cradle has been a popular music venue in Carrboro, North Carolina.

On December 9, 1992, Ween performed there and recorded the set. The performance was released as a live CD entitled At the Cat's Cradle, 1992 on November 25, 2008 on Chocodog Records. Included with the CD is a bonus DVD of various Ween performances from that era.

During this time, Ween consisted of Dean and Gene Ween playing and singing along to a pre-recorded DAT tape. They thrived on upsetting the audience, challenging them with their performance-art stage presence while performing unusually well-written songs.
