Pachyderm Studios is a legendary studio tucked into a rural Minnesota forest on a trout stream.
Nirvana recorded "In Utero" here with Steve Albini (Shellac) in February 1993.
The site has recorded a host of musicians: PJ Harvey, Andrew Bird, Soul Asylum, the Jayhawks and many more.
The studio was recently sold, and the website indicates the new facility will be called Organica Recording.
Other notable albums recorded at Pachyderm:
• Armchair Apocrypha – Andrew Bird
• Arise Therefore – Palace
• From Here to Infirmary – Alkaline Trio
• Grave Dancers Union – Soul Asylum
• Hollywood Town Hall – The Jayhawks
• Rid of Me – PJ Harvey
• Seamonsters – The Wedding Present

Here's a photo of Pachyderm Studios from the first episode of Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways on HBO.
According to Steve Albini, they recorded Nirvana's followup to Nevermind in the woods of Minnesota in an attempt to prevent a relapse by Kurt Cobain.
